Messaging

Private Messenger

Like most social platforms, there will be a direct messaging service. Messages will be end-to-end encrypted and entirely private. There will be options to share multiple forms of media including image, video, audio and content links.

Group chats and community messaging servers

There will also be a more expansive, customisable way to set up groups through the messaging section of the platform. Much like Slack and Discord, Waivlength will allow communities to tailor their discussions and chats in different subsections while simultaneously remaining accessible to everyone. We call this The Hub.

There are no restrictions to how often you can post within the Hub. Here, creators and communities can collaborate, share content and communicate in a more expansive way. Discussion channels can be segregated, admin roles can be assigned and communities can become more interactive and form around mutual interests.

Within these servers, there will be the ability for users to upvote and downvote messages and content. This will maintain a certain level of accountability and allow the platform's social consensus protocol to recognise the contributions of users within these community servers.

NFT-gated channels

The Hub also offers new and exciting ways for creators and communities to grow closer together with the ability to create NFT-gated messaging servers. This feature can help grow the appeal of NFT collections by creating exclusive digital spaces to connect and create new ways for communities to become closer.

Engagement

Rating Comments within Chat Servers

There will be the function to rate messages/comments within chat servers to acknowledge content. This will include both positive and negative means of rating, with engagement options that allow for more nuanced feedback than a binary upvote/downvote.

Social Consensus Protocol

With the incentivisation provided by the social consensus protocol, it commands accuracy of rating and accountability when posting content. Bringing the power back in the hands of the community can help a collaborative ecosystem prosper that is centred towards quality and accurate information. Community members who are contributing positively are then rewarded.

Examples of actions within the messaging servers that will be recognised by the protocol will include:

  • Daily active usage and interactions with your communities

  • Time spent actively using the application

  • Consistent interactions across multiple servers

  • Positive reactions received on communications
